Part of the UAE General Postal Authority, Sharjah has 6 branches with the Central Office located by the Municipality roundabout in the center of town. Other branches offering all the usual services, plus post boxes, are:

Avoid mornings when the office workers dealing with business mail create queues. The early afternoons are quieter. Phone, fax and photocopy facilities are not available at the Post Office.

89 red mail collection boxes are dotted all over the city. Mail is collected morning and evening.

There are 6 postal Zone charges. Rates below apply to normal letters up to 20 grams:
 

Post cards cost Dhs 2 for zones 4,5 & 6.

Express postal facilities (called Mumtaz Mail) for within the UAE and abroad are also available.

There is no free mail delivery service in the Emirates. If you wish to rent a mail box, (Sharjah alone has 10,500) the cost is Dhs 160 for the first year, Dhs 150 on renewal. A fee of Dhs 10 is charged to replace a key, Dhs 75 to change the lock, plus Dhs 50 for late renewal payment received after 31st January.

For a personal box, fill in the form available at the post office and submit this along with 2 photos and 2 copies of your passport. Businesses need only submit 2 copies of the Trade License. Take along the original too.

Delivery Service and Pick up is available for companies, establishments and government departments. Cost: Monthly, once a day Dhs 250 plus Dhs 15 for an extra round.
