Along
the coast and offshore, apart from the summer months,
the Arabian Gulf and Gulf of Oman waters are full of
edible fish like king fish, tuna, barracuda, red
snapper, hamour and even sail fish, sharks and the not
so edible rays. The
coastline on both shores provide good beach and surf
fishing. In Sharjah city, the breakwaters all
along the sea front are recommended areas. On
the East Coast just pick your spot and wait patiently
for the nibble. Anglers
are not permitted to fish in the Khaled Lagoon. Bait
can be purchased from the Fish Souk. Rods and
tackle are on sale in GECO Marine, Sun & Sand
Sports Store and shops in the area along the corniche,
between Al Majarra Souk and the Sharjah Continental
Hotel. Berthing is available at the Marbella
Resort (members only). There
are a number of companies who organize deep sea
fishing. Contact:
Mr. Anil Shankaran at the Oceanic Hotel, Khor Fakkan
for the daily sunset fishing trip (09 2385111). |
