The American University of
Sharjah (AUS) is a non-profit,
independent, coeducational institution of higher
education developed on the American model in
affiliation with the American University,
Washington, D.C. It was established and is funded
by His Highness, Shaikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al
Qassimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of
Sharjah, and President of the University.
The 375 acre (1,518,000 meters squared) University
City Campus is located 10 miles (15 kilometers)
from the center of Sharjah and is a short distance
from both the Sharjah International and the Dubai
International Airports. Architecturally
distinguished facilities were designed to
accommodate 4,000 undergraduate students.
Affiliates
AUS has a comprehensive agreement with
American University (AU),
Washington, DC that calls for AU to
provide senior management personnel for AUS. The
contract also calls for AU to certify the
equivalency of AUS courses with the same courses
as they are offered at AU. Thus the
transferability of credits by students in good
standing is assured.
AUS has a second affiliation with
Texas A&M University TAMU
with respect to engineering. TAMU provided the
Dean of AUS School of Engineering and will
continue giving technical assistance on matters of
curriculum and facilities.

partnership. The Continuing Education Center (CEC)
offers quality educational and development
programs to meet the ongoing needs of businesses
and organizations in the Emirates.
The CEC is unique in its ability to provide the
required combination of experienced personnel,
excellent facilities, and the latest technology
available in the Emirates. While accessing the
faculty and facilities of AUS is the most
economical way for us to serve your needs, we also
utilize the expertise of our affiliates and other
experts nationally and internationally.
The administrative members of CEC are experienced
professionals with years of expertise in
developing and delivering continuing education
programs in the UAE and in North America. This is
relevant and timely expertise that is available to
work with you throughout this year and long into
